Breckenridge ISD Special Education Counselor Barbara Collinsworth spoke to the school board Monday, May 8 regarding a program called Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT). TCHATT is available through Texas Tech Health Science Center and provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts in order to aid in identifying and assessing behavioral needs of students.
Breckenridge High School senior Chase Lehr defended his state title, bringing home the gold in the 800-meter run. Lehr’s time of 1:51.82 was the second highest in the state.
Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.06/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 28.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 106.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 4.0 cents in the last week and stands at $3.97 per gallon.
The Stephens County 4-H Plant Sale will be held this Friday, May 12. This is the last Friday before Mother’s Day and shoppers can purchase hanging baskets, container plants and bedding plants.
Beginning Monday, May 15, North Shelton Avenue at the Gonzales Draw in Breckenridge will be temporarily closed for bridge replacement, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The following day, Tuesday, May 16, North Live Oak Street at the Gonzales Draw will also be closed for bridge replacement.
Voters’ voices were heard in the May election, with incumbents returning to office and Proposition 1 passing. Incumbent Breckenridge City Commissioner Place 3 Vince Moore ran unopposed and received 213 votes.
