Gas prices fall almost 12 cents

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.02/g today, according to Gas-Buddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 20.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 95.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 6.3 cents in the last week and stands at $4.01 per gallon.

County, city sign demolition interlocal agreement

In an effort to improve the city of Breckenridge and Stephens County, local entities have agreed to a cost-sharing agreement to help beautify the community. City Manager Cynthia Northrop spoke Monday, April 24 during the Stephens County Commissioners meeting about an interlocal agreement in which the city and county would share financial responsibility for street repairs as well as demolition and removal of substandard structures.

New historical marker unveiled at MT7 Ranch

A new historical marker was unveiled at MT7 Ranch during a ceremony held last Tuesday, April 25. The historical marker highlights the story of the notorious late 1800s train and bank robber Sam Bass and his gang.

BHS sending six to state meet

After their performance in the regional meet April 28-29 in Abilene, Breckenridge High School will be represented by six athletes at the UIL Track & Field State Meet next week. Sawyer Wimberley (200 meters), Chase Lehr (800 meters, 4x400 relay), Karter Smalley (4x400 relay), Jaime Cruz (4x400 relay), Angel Alvarado (4x400 relay) and Adler Loftis (discus) will compete Thursday, May 11 for a state championship.

BHS sending 18 to regionals

Eighteen Breckenridge High School athletes across 15 events advanced out of the area track meet Thursday, April 20 at Jacksboro High School. BHS competed against 14 other schools for the chance to advance in the track and field postseason.
