American moves into new office

Gary Slade, a former resident of Breckenridge, was inducted into the New England Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (NEAAPA) last Tuesday, March 7. He is the owner and publisher of the Arlington based Amusement Today. There are 45 members in the NEAAPA Hall of Fame, which was established in 1998.
Breckenridge students from both East and South Elementary Schools were able to enjoy a day of fun Friday, March 10 in Buckaroo Stadium. The students were celebrating the end of a fundraiser. Children were able to play on large inflatables, grab for money in a wind tunnel, and cool off with snow cones.
The Breckenridge ISD 2023-2024 calendar was approved Thursday, March 9 by the BISD Board of Trustees during their regular meeting. The calendar includes a four-day instructional week and an earlier start date of Tuesday, Aug.
As a cooperative effort, the city of Breckenridge and Stephens County announced last week they will be picking up brush with a woodchipper inside the corporate limits of Breckenridge, at no charge to residents. Brush will be picked up beginning Monday, March 20 through Friday, March 24.
The main suspect in a string of burglaries within and just outside the city limits of Breckenridge was arrested last week. Stanley Dale Madison Jr.
The next scheduled City Strategic meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, March 28. The mayor, commissioners and other various community leaders will be in attendance.
Texas State Technical College hosted a job fair Wednesday, March 8 in Breckenridge. Thirteen local businesses had tables set up with representatives from their company, as well as job applications and additional information. Some offered on the spot interviews as well. Interested community members seeking employment used the opportunity to learn about the different companies and ask questions pertaining to different jobs available.
Brock Shepperd, a 3rd grader from South Elementary School, has been chosen to be highlighted with this week’s Future Buckaroo Spotlight. Shepperd is the grandson of Tammie and David Easley and the son of Marlie and Coach Jerrod Shepperd.
