The city of Breckenridge will hold a strategic planning and community workshop meeting Monday, Feb. 27 at the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, at 100 West Elm Street. The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and all members of the community are invited to attend.

Gas prices fall more than 10 cents in state

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 10.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.95/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 7.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 18.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 7.3 cents in the last week and stands at $4.53 per gallon, the lowest level since March 5, 2022.

Funding available to eligible VFDs

Texas A&M Forest Service is offering new Volunteer Recruitment Resources grants designed to help Texas volunteer fire departments strengthen their workforce and enhance community fire protection. Available through the Rural VFD Assistance Program, eligible volunteer fire departments can apply for reimbursement of 100 percent of the actual cost for recruitment resources up to $3,000.

Another positive sales tax month for city

The city of Breckenridge will see another increase in sales tax returns this month from the same period a year prior. These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.
