Volleyball Buckaroos honored with district offensive MVP and other awards

Although the high school volleyball season ended for the Lady Buckaroos more than a week ago, the accolades continue rolling in.

During a postseason 3A Region 1 District 6 meeting, officials named sophomore middle blocker Madison Stanley as offensive player of the year, sophomore setter Kinley Kanady newcomer of the year and standout senior MaKenna Moser made first-team all district.

Stanley received the top offensive honors after leading the Lady Buckaroos in kills (274), aces (64) and blocks (36). When not posing as an offensive threat at the net, Stanley also showcased her defensive skills on the back line, telling 119 digs.

Moser ended her high school volleyball career with first team all district honors following a season where she showcased her skills in all aspects of volleyball. She finished second in kills (156), second in blocks (23), fourth in aces (30) and second in digs (190), just 17 behind sophomore libero Anna Reaugh.

Kanady received newcomer of the year after finishing her first varsity season second in assists (269), third in digs (125) and had a 94 percent serve success rate and 17 aces.

Senior outside hitter Kelli Wilcox received second-team honors after finishing the season third in kills (64), third in aces (33), third in assists (38) and fourth in digs (146).

Honorable mentions include: Reaugh, who led the Lady Buckaroos in digs with 207; sophomore McKenly Roberts, who led the Lady Buckaroos in assists with 352; and Maria Alvarado, who was third in kills (81) and second in aces (37).

Academic awards went to: Kanady, Roberts, Stanley, Alvarado, Moser, Reaugh, Calista Lambert, Aylin Saucedo, Liberty Blades and Mackenzie Harris.
