Wilcox to cheer at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Wed, 11/08/2017 - 4:41 pm

Thanks to daughter, Kelli Wilcox and her cheerleading skills, the family of Chad and Krista Wilcox will be spending the week prior to Thanksgiving seeing the sites of New York City and then enjoying the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in person.

Wilcox’s sister, Kaysi, a fifth-grader at South Elementary and brother, Chad, an eighth-grader at Breckenridge Junior High, are part of the family entourage. Kelli Wilcox is a senior cheerleader at Breckenridge High School, who attended a Spirit of America Cheerleading Camp during this past summer. As a result, she was nominated to a slot on the cheerleading group that performs in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. First, she had to submit a tryout video to finalize her selection, which she received. Wilcox received the routines she was required to learn to participate in the national group of cheerleaders selected from across the United States.

“We were so excited that the family was included on the list of daily activities with the girls,” Krista Wilcox said. “This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our family to be part of something celebrated and seen across the United States and to see the sites of New York City.”

The family and girls will get to see the dance group, The Rockettes, a Broadway show, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the 9-11 Memorial. The girls have to squeeze in daily rehearsals in between seeing the sights of New York City. Wilcox’s grandparents include Kay Smith, John Cotton and Jim and Judy Wilcox, all from Breckenridge, who will be cheering her on as she performs in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
