Jack Bryan Jones

The last of the Jones boys passed away peacefully at his home in Denton on Nov. 3, 2017 at age 88. He was surrounded by his wife of 60 years, “M,” and his two daughters, Bryanne and Kathy. Jack Bryan Jones was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Dublin, Texas, and was a star athlete in high school and during his college years, was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Tarleton State University for playing football. He graduated with a degree in geology from Midwestern University, where he met and married a young nursing student, “M” Tunnell.

He went on to establish a respected career in the oil field industry (directional drilling) which led Jack and his family from Odessa to Great Yarmouth, England; Stavanger, Norway; Aberdeen, Scotland; Singapore, and Indonesia. He spent many happy years of his retirement in Ruidoso, N.M. and in the most recent years, moved to Denton. 

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Marie Alexander Jones; brothers, Bill and Johnny, and sister, Joyce (Skinner). 

He was loved by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.
