The Woodson News: Pension Plans

Mon, 07/30/2018 - 2:40 pm

So far, Mayor Mathiews has been spot on in his promises.

Happy birthday, MacKenzie Cloud. (A little belated but still July.)

First Baptist Church of Woodson is holding Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, July 29-Aug. 2. Anyone age 4 through sixth grade (completed) may attend. Dinner will be provided. Family night is Thursday, Aug. 2. VBS has a sports theme titled, “Game On!”

Volleyball two-a-days begin Aug. 1.

Football two-a-days begin Aug. 6!.

School begins…Oh, I just can’t say it yet.

Arliss Willingham, you gave us quite a scare. There are plenty of folks who would go fishing with you, but you’d have to share your “honey holes.” Seriously, we love you and please get well.

Please continue to pray for Alene Forrest, Otis Hibbitts, Jeanie Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Pam Allen, Rooster Sullivan, Mae and Keith Boyd, Kay and Teddy Clark, Bruce and Keron Kinyon, Arliss and June Willingham, Dee and Carolyn Tate, Arie Herring, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and L.B. Atkinson, Bill Thompson, and the Oliver family in your prayers. Please continue prayers for the family of Royce Jones. Add Linda Dean to your list and Modelle Ellis.

Please pray for the safe return of Kelcey Cruiser from his deployment. Please pray for our school, educators, students, community, county, all military and our nation.

Keep praying for rain.

Well, Randy Sullivan is still fishing somewhere. What have the rest of you been doing? We Schlitterbahned for three days. Jeff, Heather, MacKenzie, Kaiser and Elizabeth have been to Six Flags.

The Fifth Sunday Gospel Singing at 6 p.m. July 29 at the Throckmorton New Life Assembly of God was wonderful. Worth the time. You can sing along, sing your own song or just sit and enjoy. Y’all come out for the fellowship on the next Fifth Sunday.

Mayor Mathiews made no promise this week, but as he wiped his glasses from his face when he was blotting his head, he remembered Bobby Joe Bellah one hot summer. Bobby Joe wore glasses and he was frustrated because as he wiped sweat from his brow, he would knock his glasses off or get them dirty. He finally had enough and said to Bobby Mathiews, “Anyone who wears glasses oughta draw a pension!”

And, please, if you have news, send it to tacylte@gmail.com.
