It’s dove season. The hunters are back. Welcome to Woodson.

Don’t shoot my Aoudad. She’s wearing an orange collar and hanging out with my goats and my three chickens and my daughter’s heifer… none of them are dove, so please don’t shoot.

Mayor Mathiews proclaimed, “The dog days of summer are here. That’s all.”

Pray for rain.

Come enjoy a volleyball game. High school girls are at home on Sept. 8 and play at 10 a.m. On Sept. 11 they play at 6 p.m. Then off to Strawn on Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.

If you’re up for a Cowboy game, they are home on the Sept. 7 and 14, and off to Newcastle on Sept. 21. Speaking of the games, the “5th Quarter” after the game will be held at the Woodson Church of Christ on the day of the games. It is at the First Christian Church in Woodson.

The junior high volleyball season kicked off on Sept. 4 at Abilene Christian High School in Abilene. Next up is Ranger, Newcastle and the Hawley Tournament.

The West Texas Fair and Rodeo begins in September and many Woodson ISD students will be exhibiting animals. Claire Ellis shows a heifer on Sept. 8 and dairy goats the next day. Market goats are on the following day.

Snakes are moving.

Pray for rain.

The Woodson Grocery has gone to its school hours and closes at 4 p.m. on weekdays, except Wednesday, when it is open for supper. The burgers were good.
