Aaron Art Mehaffey, 94, of Eastland, passed away Friday, Feb. 14 in Eastland.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 at Bethany Baptist Church, 1911 W. Walker in Breckenridge, under direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge. Don Bearden will be officiating, with Denise Thompson on the organ. A private interment will be held at Breckenridge Cemetery.

Mehaffey was born on November 29, 1925, in Comanche, Texas, to H. H. and Eddith (Roberson) Mehaffey and was the second of their ten children. Aaron attended Breckenridge Public Schools, Ranger Junior College and Hardin Simmons University. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II including time spent in the South Pacific on Saipan.

Mehaffey married Lorena Richardson on August 25, 1946, in Breckenridge, where he lived in Breckenridge for most of his life and where he and Lorena raised their two childre. Later they enjoyed living on Hubbard Creek Lake. Aaron was a Charter Member of Bethany Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years and taught Sunday school classes for 49 years.

Mehaffey is survived by son Dana King Mehaffey and wife, Beverly, of Cisco; daughter Dianne Mehaffey Garrison and husband, Rick, of Georgetown, Texas; grandson Jerrod Worsham and wife, Kelli, of Georgetown; granddaughter Sarah Mehaffey Wells and husband, Robby, of Weatherford; great-grandchildren Taylor Duncan, Sierra Worsham, Chandler Duncan, Kameron Wells and Gracie Wells.

Mehaffey is also survived by brothers Robert Joe Mehaffey of Hurst; Terry Hughes Mehaffey of Los Lumas, NM; and sisters Jenice Mehaffey Bacon of Eastland; and Sue Mehaffey Thompson of Tom Bean, TX. He is survived by many nephews and nieces, along with multiple generations of extended family and many friends.

Memorials can be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
