Abundio Moreno, age 86 of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Dias officiating. Interment followed in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 at Morehart Mortuary.

Abundio Martinez Moreno was born July 11, 1934 in Stamford, Texas to his parents, Jose Moreno and Sabas Martinez. He started working at a young age, eventually becoming a cement contractor in 1958. On Dec. 6, 1960, Abundio married Amelia Fernandez. In 1970, he started his own business, A. Moreno Concrete. When he wasn’t working, which he loved, he enjoyed fishing, setting trot lines and hunting. He also liked boxing and playing baseball. Abundio was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Sabas Moreno; one daughter, Dora Johnson; three brothers, Domingo Moreno, Hermo Moreno, Vale Moreno; two sisters, Cruz Lopez, Juanita Galbinez; and one granddaughter, Bridget Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Amelia Moreno of Breckenridge; four children, Diane Shahan and husband Randy, Ector Moreno and wife Janna, Albert Moreno, all of Breckenridge, Randy Moreno and wife Monica of Woodson; one brother, Jack Moreno and wife Minnie of Breckenridge; five sisters, Tiodora Mendez of Abilene, Mary Gomez and husband Ray of Stamford, Lupe Brown and husband Stan of Buffalo Gap, Yolanda Cedillo and husband Raymond Cedillo, Jr. of Weatherford; Linda Russell and husband Rusty of Austin; twelve grandchildren, Mandy Shahan, Coby Shahan, Dominique Shahan, Stephanie Perales, Stephan Moreno, Amber Ewing, Ashley Blanks, Tyler Moreno, Cory Moreno, Logan Moreno, Issiac Moreno, Xavier Moreno; twenty four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
