Adrian Janelle “Jan” Cravey

Adrian Janelle “Jan” Cravey went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2021, at her home in McKinney, Texas.

Jan was born at home on Feb. 14, 1939, in Aransas Pass, Texas, to James Jefferson Morgan, Sr., and Vera Pauline (Maddox) Morgan. She attended Breckenridge High School and graduated with the class of 1957.

She met William Craig “W.C.” Cravey, Jr., (BHS Class of 1953) and they married on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958. They began their 59-year marriage in Breckenridge, Texas, then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where all three of their children were born. In 1966, they settled in Denison, Texas, and joined Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. Jan moved to McKinney, Texas, in 2018.

Jan attended Ranger Junior College, Grayson College, and East Texas State University. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in library science from ETSU, she taught grades K-1 with the Sherman Independent School District for 20 years, retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed reading and camping and traveling in their recreational vehicle. Through her teaching career, she made a lasting impact on her many young students such that they often remembered her in their adult years.

Jan is survived by son, Craig Cravey and wife, Julie; daughter, Jana Cravey Robinson and husband, Dan; son, Chris Cravey and wife, Katherine; grandchildren, Lauren Cravey Ayotte, Brian Cravey and wife, Tyler, Kyle Cripe and wife Karista, Lewis Robinson, Eric Robinson and Casey Cravey; great-grandchildren, Lola, Giada, Max, Owen, and Drew; sister and husband, Anita and Joel Welch; sister-in-law Jeanette Cravey Phariss; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; brother James Jefferson Morgan, Jr.; father-in-law William Craig Cravey, Sr., and mother-in-law Minnie Ruth (Loven) Cravey. Jan was the granddaughter of the late Rev. Andrew Jackson Morgan, former pastor of First Baptist Church, Breckenridge, Texas.

Jan generously donated her body for medical education and research through the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Condolences may be sent to jancravey@yahoo.com. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on June 12 at Cottonwood Creek Church chapel, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, TX 75013.
