Bertha Stephens, 99, of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, June 12. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 18 at Morehart Mortuary, with Dr. Genoa Goad officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Bertha Ethel Hardee was born January 27, 1922 in Parks, TX to parents, Amos Ambrose Hardee and Bertha Ethel Kelly Hardee. She attended schools in Parks before moving to Breckenridge, where she graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1940. On July 13, 1941, Bertha married Oren Cecil Heairren. The two were married for 37 years until his passing in 1978. She later married Willard Jack Stephens on October 20, 1984. Bertha was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Breckenridge for many years, as well as the Dorcas Sunday School class. She enjoyed working in her yard and being outside. She also liked to sew and found joy in altering clothes for her family members. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one infant son, Oren Wayne Heairren; one brother, Kenneth Ambrose Hardee; and one step-sister, Doris Conner.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her daughter, Alicia Heairren Waller and husband, Scott; two grandsons, Zachary Scott Waller and wife, Courtney, Luke Benjamin Waller and wife, Whitney; five great grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Adele, Landree and Brazos Waller.

The family would like to give special thanks to Sally Mendoza and the caretaker at Seniorly Yours, Beth Price, for the wonderful care and love given to Mrs. Stephens.
