Billie Virginia Goodwin Jones

Billie Virginia Goodwin Jones, 93, died the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at 12:48 a.m., surrounded by her family at her home in Breckenridge.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge for family and friends. Reverand Andy Channer will be officiating. Jones wished to be cremated and Morehart Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on Jan. 10, 1925, in Ivan, Texas, to Albert Daniel Goodwin and Ida Faye Stewart Goodwin in Stephens County. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1942. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Midland,

Texas and was employed there as a financial secretary at the time of her marriage to Lt. Roy L. Jones on Nov. 12, 1955, in Midland. Lt. Roy L. Jones was a jet fighter pilot with the U.S.A.F. Jones enjoyed music from the big band era and loved to dance. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles.

She spent her married life as a military wife, moving from one air force base to another all over the United States and for two years in Okinawa, Japan. She devoted her life to raising her four children but worked as a bookkeeper at some of the Officer’s clubs on the military bases.

She and her children moved back to Breckenridge in late 1971. She worked at the courthouse in the Tax Assessors office for a few years. She then managed DABS Grocery until the store closed in 1976. She also worked in the office for Post Carpets for a few years. She is survived by her four children; Roy Steven Jones of Winslow, Arizona, Billie Marie Jones, Susan Christi and husband Jack Wagner and Stewart Jones all of Breckenridge; grandchildren Justin Otts and wife Lori of Denton, Texas, Shannon Otts, J.J. and Ryan Wade of Breckenridge; great-grandchildren,

Trinity, Michael and Jesse Otts of Denton, Lindsey Otts of Breckenridge, Blake Wade of Breckenridge; and one nephew Joe Don Schoolcraft. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Faye Goodwin, her dear sister Lucille Attaway, beloved brother Joe C. Goodwin, sister-in-law Delora Faye Goodwin, one niece Patti Brooks and one grandson Michael Wayne Otts. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s association or meals on wheels.
