Charles L. Knight died Thursday, Oct. 17 at the age of 90. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas but spent his childhood in Breckenridge with his parents, Grace and W.L. “Red” Knight. Larry graduated in 1951 from Breckenridge High School in West Texas where he proudly played football and ran track for the Buckaroos. He received his B.S. degree in Petroleum Geology from Texas Tech University in 1957. He worked for an independent oil operator, W.G. Arnot, Jr., in Breckenridge and on seismic field crews for National Geophysical Company prior to joining Mobil Oil in 1966 in Dallas and was involved in the computer processing of exploration data for most of the foreign affiliates before taking early retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Dallas Geophysical Society, and the Knights of Columbus Council 5052 in Carrollton. His hobbies included traveling, foreign coin collecting, fishing, and golfing which was his true passion.

He was the founder and long-time member of the Country Place Men’s Golf Association in Carrollton. He enjoyed his Monday foursome, a monthly North Dallas group, and the Country Place Sunshine Boys. He also participated for ten years in senior track and field events.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janet, of Carrollton; and his daughter, Teresa Trimberger, of Guthrie, Oklahoma. (neptunesociety.com)
