David Edward Maxwell (also lovingly known by his grandsons as Mr. Dave or Lt. Dan), 74, a resident of Pearland, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 10. David lived in Pearland for 42 years.

David grew up in Breckenridge, where he was a standout in all sports. He went to college on scholarship to play football and run track at West Texas State in Canyon. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart Jane Ellen Maxwell. They were married for 57 years.

He started his career with Chevron in 1967 and retired after 46 years. Thirty-eight of those years he spent working internationally in various supervisory positions and locations. After his retirement, he spent his time irritating his wife, loving his little red dogs, talking on his flip phone to his high school friends, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Elmer Maxwell, and brother Eugene Maxwell.

He leaves behind his wife, Jane Ellen Maxwell; daughter, Julie Ellen Lawson; son, Eric Scott Maxwell and wife Lisa; grandchildren: Kyle Wayne Lawson and wife Taylor, Kelly Scott Lawson and wife Destiney, Keith David Lawson, Jillian Leigh Ellen Maxwell, and Aidan Sean Maxwell; great-grandchildren: Kenzley Addison Davenport, Skylar Ellen Lawson, Knox Wayne Lawson, and Kolson Scott Lawson.

At David’s request, there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered at a later date in a private family ceremony.
