Gary Castillo made Breckenridge his home over 35 years ago. He worked throughout his life as a skilled floor specialist, laying carpet and tile for manufactured homes.

Gary was a simple man and he enjoyed simple things. From being outdoors camping and fishing to preparing the best barbecued chicken at family cookouts. He loved to cook and had a pretty good green thumb for gardening. Gary had a kind and loving heart when it came to animals. He opened his home to many and loved them all dearly.

Gary was born June 5, 1951, to Perfecto and Sara Castillo. He was the fourth child born of seven. He had five brothers and a sister. As a youngster Gary was known for being a class clown and is fondly remembered that way still. He loved to make people laugh.

Saturday, March 10, at the age of 66, he was reunited with his parents, his brother, Manuel Castillo and sister, Virginia Castillo.

He is survived by his brothers, Junior Castillo of Midland, Victor Castillo of Los Angeles, Calif., Richard Castillo of Eastland, and Larry Castillo of Hermleigh, and his beloved nieces and nephews.

Gary was known and loved by many and will be remembered as a neighbor, friend, brother and beloved uncle. Memorial services were 11 a.m. Friday, March 16 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been set up by the family at https://m.gofund.me/memorial-fund-for-gary-castillo. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
