Gary Vick, age 64 of Aledo, formerly of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., just prior to the service. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Gary Dwayne Vick was born Nov. 11, 1955 in Breckenridge, Texas to Ancel Gyron Vick and Loree Wright Vick. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1974 and continued his education at Tarleton State University where he earned his degree in Business Administration. On Aug. 1, 1981, he married Leslie Barton in Kilgore, Texas. Gary worked in the oil and gas industry for Hughes Christensen for 40 years until he retired in 2015. He grew up attending First Baptist Church in Breckenridge and he and his family have been long time members of the Methodist Church. Gary was a family man, first and foremost. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, to whom he was lovingly known as Pappy. Gary found joy in coaching his children’s teams when they were younger and attending any and all games and events. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing and skeet shooting competitions. His favorite sports memory was playing baseball in his younger years for Breckenridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancel and Loree Vick; his brother, Bobby Vick; one nephew, Steve Vick; and his in-laws, Don and Marjorie Anne Barton.

Gary is survived by his wife of 39 years, Leslie Vick of Aledo; three children, Bradley Austin Vick and wife Kristen of Trophy Club, Natalie Vick Stephens and husband Bryan of Aledo, Kyle Reid Vick and Caitlin of Dallas; two sisters, Carolyn Vick Kennedy of Cisco, Susan Vick Bigham and husband Stan of Austin; one sister-in-law, Kelli Barton Rapini and husband Vince of Sonora, Calif.; six grandchildren, Hailey Anne Vick, Ashlyn Maurine Vick, Addison Lorraine Vick, Kade Hoyt Stephens, Ella Claire Stephens, Hattie Ross Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends and we cannot forget the granddogs.
