Herb Smallwood, 92, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rex Boggs officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 in the Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m. at Morehart Mortuary.

Herbert Gene Smallwood was born on Nov. 19, 1926 to Everett W. Smallwood and Ossie Easter Lee Smallwood in Matador, Texas. After high school, he attended college and joined the United States Air Force. He met and married Lona Mae Liston on Dec. 31, 1949. They lived a full military life until he lost her in 2008. After his retirement from the military, Herb enjoyed remodeling homes, traveling in his camper and visiting with their grandchildren. On March 2, 2009, Herb married Grace Evelyn Shelton in Hurst, Texas. He lost Evelyn in 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ossie Smallwood; two wives; and two brothers, Jesse W. Smallwood and Clyde A. Smallwood.

Mr. Smallwood is survived by one daughter, Cathy L. Loucks and husband Buck of Iowa Park; one son, Jon A. Smallwood and wife Ellen of Bedford; three step-children, Dickie Garrison and wife Shirley of Red Rock, David Garrison and wife Susan of Sterling City, Debra Wilson and husband Jack of Lubbock; one sister, Dollie M. Robinson of Rio Honda; four grandchildren, Jennifer Loucks, Jesse Loucks, Jacob Smallwood, Sarah Guthrie; and seven great-grandchildren.
