Jon Blackshear, 52, of Breckenridge, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Robert Jon Blackshear was born to Robert James Blackshear and Irma Odom on Feb. 21, 1966 in Tallahassee, Fla. On June 4, 1988, Jon married Tracey West in Mayo, Fla. They later welcomed two sons. 

The family moved to Breckenridge in 2005 from Mayo. He was employed at Ezell Aviation as an Airframe and Powerplant technician, and he was a contract pilot for PETEX. Jon enjoyed flying, bracket racing, building rat rods, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. 

Jon was the most loving husband and dad, and he served others with his gifts of generosity and kindness. He was the pilot that John Thomas depended on during his long battle with cancer, he flew a transplant patient to receive a new kidney, and he helped save the lives of three other people who had been in accidents. 

He believed in living his faith through acts of service, and he often said we should follow our hearts when someone asked for help. Jon treasured and adored his mother, and his family knows that he is holding her hand today in Glory. 

Jon was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Tracey Blackshear; two sons, Ethan Blackshear, Eli Blackshear, both of Breckenridge; one brother, Don Blackshear and wife Tracy of Brookfield, Ohio; his step-dad, Calvin Blue of Mayo, Fla.; two nephews, Brandon Blackshear, Bradley Blackshear; and one niece, Chloe Blackshear.

 The family would like to give their thanks for all the condolences, food and visits during this time. They ask for your continued prayers as they cope with the loss of their dear, dear husband, best friend and dad.
