In Loving Memory of Juana Maria Garcia Juana Maria Garcia, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 5, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Juana cherished the simple islander lifestyle until Fidel Castro and his communist regime seized control of her homeland in 1959. For over a decade, she and her husband suffered harsh political persecution for maintaining their defiance of the new regime. She courageously emigrated to the US with her husband and two young children in 1969 seeking the freedom they had lost. Juana was a devoted wife and mother, known for her warm personality, infectious laughter, amazing cooking, and unwavering loyalty. She is survived by her children: Roberto Agustin Garcia of Cisco and Ana Gloria Miller and her husband, Scott Haden, of Breckenridge. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren: Robert James Hoskins and his wife Leslie of Benbrook, Christopher Carl Hoskins of Llano, Blake Haden Miller and his wife Sara Lynn of Sebastian, Florida, Ryan Edward Miller of Dallas, and Scott Haden Miller, Jr. and wife Samantha of Dallas. Her legacy also lives on through her five great-grandchildren: Dylan Lambert, Gavyn Lambert, Jovilee Miller, Nathaniel Oliveras, and Maximus Miller by carrying her vibrant spirit and sense of adventure. Juana found joy in simple pleasures – spending time with her grandchildren at home and at the beach, listening to Vicente Fernandez’s music while playing the occasional game of dominos. She loved to travel and experience the litany of cultures while exploring abroad. She had a passion for reading romance novellas and watching action movies but her greatest talent was found in the kitchen, where she displayed her true passion through her excellent culinary skills. She had a natural ability to warm your soul with her delicious home-cooked meals.
Juana’s family will hold a private service to celebrate her extraordinary life and joyous reunion with her beloved husband, Anastacio “Tasito” de Jesus Garcia, who predeceased her in 1981. Juana tirelessly cared for Tasito after suddenly falling ill, ensuring his comfort and well-being until his passing, remaining his ever-faithful widow.
Juana’s life was a testament to her steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus and her deep devotion to her family. Her loyalty to her husband, Tasito, became an inspiration to her loved ones. Their incredible love story now serves as a monument for everlasting devotion and will certainly inspire the hearts and minds of those who come to know the love story that transcended time and space, conquering even death.
