Kenneth Lane Henson

Kenneth Lane Henson was born the last of eight children on December 8, 1937 to Joe and Lora Faye (Faulconer) Henson. He passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK, with his wife Ellen holding his hand. His mom gave birth to him on the Epperson Place, two miles north of Okay, Oklahoma He grew up the son of a sharecropper and learned how to work hard milking cows and picking cotton. He graduated in 1956 from Wagoner High School, from Northeastern State in 1960, and later from Southeastern State with his Masters of Education in mathematics. On May 26, 1956 he married the love of his life, Ellen Louise Spriggs to whom he was married almost 65 years. In October 1957 they were blessed with their daughter, Ellen Lanet. In August, 1961 they were blessed with their daughter, Deborah Ann. In April, 1966 they were blessed with their son, Keith Lane Kenneth worked tirelessly to provide for his family.

Kenneth’s teaching and basketball coaching career began at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. After great success he continued on to Cisco Junior College and then on to Howard Payne University. In the mid 70’s Kenneth gave up his career in education to open up his own restaurant in Breckenridge, Texas known as Ken’s Chicken-n-Fish. Ken built successful businesses in both Breckenridge and Eastland Texas. Ken’s was always known for cleanliness and great quality food.

Ken was a master teacher and spent his working life passing on great wisdom and life lessons to all those he worked with throughout the years. Kenneth was an active member of Yukon Church and was so thankful for his family He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was so proud and thankful for all their successes and their love for him.

He is survived by his wife Ellen; his children: Lanet and husband Michael, Debbie and husband Clay, and Keith and wife Melinda; his grandchildren: Amy and husband Anthony, Micha and husband Nick, Kendall, Meagan, Keagan and wife Madison, and Katherine; great-grandchildren; Bailey Michael, Hagen, Grace, Eller, and Statham. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Rosemary; sister-in-law, Mary and brother-in-law, Gary, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lora; sister, Alma, and brothers, J.D, Bill, Jim, Louis, and Don.

Celebration of life services were held Friday, April 9, at Yukon Church, Yukon, OK , with interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, OK.
