MORAN – Lura V. (Dennington) Redden, 97, of Moran died Monday, June 19, 2017 in an Eastland care center. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Moran Community Center, with Matthew Reagles officiating, under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation was from 12:30 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service, at the Moran Community Center. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.
Lura was born Jan. 7, 1920 in Portales, N.M., to Ross and Ellen (Blakley) Dennington. She graduated from Beulah High School and then married I.G. Redden in Clovis, N.M. on Aug. 8, 1936. She was a seamstress for Itasca Drapery Company in Lubbock for many years.
Lura is survived by eight children, Manuel Redden, Shiela and Ronald Hallmark, Tim and Cathy Redden, Betty and Roy George, Lena Redden, Joyce Whitt, Jim Redden and Sherry and Mike Blue; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Alton, two daughters, Laura Mae and Deborah June, two grandsons, Dwight and Mikey, and one granddaughter, Beverly Ann.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Hendrick Hospice and Eastland Nursing and Rehab and a longtime friend Sylvia Wilson.
