Lynda “Lyn” Copeland, 73 of Breckenridge, passed away peacefully at her residence on Copeland Ranch on Aug. 8, 2020. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11 in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories with pastor Charles Kuhn officiating. A private family burial will be held at Caddo Cemetery.

Lynda M. Welch was born Feb. 11, 1947 in Seymour, Texas to parents Cecil and Maxine Welch. The Welch family moved to Munday, Texas to raise their family. That is where Lyn was raised. She graduated from Munday High School in 1965. Shortly after her high school graduation, she attended beauty college and obtained her cosmetology license. Lyn started her forty-plus years in cosmetology in Mineral Wells and ended her career at a salon in Graham.

On May 6, 1989 Lyn met her future husband, Mike Copeland, in Graham. After four years of dating they wed and were happily married for thirty-one years, being shacked up for the first three years of their love together. Her family meant a great deal to her, especially her brother, Don Welch, and sister, Kathey Hodges.

Lyn was a woman who loved to travel without her husband in tow and was not afraid to skydive in Hawaii or zipline in the Palo Duro Canyon. She was always known to speak her mind and give good advice, even if you didn’t want it.

Lyn took the news from her doctors that she had a terminal and incurable lung cancer in stride and persevered by completing everything on her bucket list.

Lyn is survived by husband of 31 years, Mike Copeland; brother Don Welch and wife Shirley of Rhineland, Texas; sister Kathey Hodges of Anson, Texas; sister-in-law Sherry Duggan of Breckenridge; daughters Brenda Rogers of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kim Thomas of Buchanan, Texas, and Kim Michele and husband Jim of Saginaw, Texas; as well as six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
