Marcia Carr, 88 of Strawn, passed away Wednesday, April 9. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Morehart Mortuary with Joe Knust officiating. A family only interment will follow at Scranton Cemetery in Eastland County. Visitation was held at 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Morehart Mortuary. Marcia Jo Anderson was born Aug. 27, 1936 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Joe Shelby Anderson and Ruby Emma May. She married Rufus A. Carr in Scranton, Texas on Aug. 16, 1952. Marcia started working for Eastland Memorial in 1972 as a medical records transcriptionist until she was promoted to the hospital administrator. She was on the steering committee for TORCH, where she served as president during her tenure. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Rising Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Carr; her granddaughter, Jessica Carr.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her two children, John S. Carr and wife Bertha Carr of Brentwood, California, Alicia Whitt and husband Jay of Strawn; six grandchildren, Richard Whitt and wife Becky of Goldthwaite, Justin Whitt and wife Jessica of Breckenridge, Charlotte Carr of Paigeland, North Carolina, Jeremy Carr of Los Angeles, California, Brian Carr and wife Kimmie of Livermore, California, David Guy of Graford; seven great grandchildren, Kristin Whitt of Killeen, Jaythan Whitt of Goldthwaite, Mason Gilkey of Eastland, Miranda Gilkey of Breckenridge, Marley Gilkey of Breckenridge, John Belsher of Haltom City, Shelby Carr of Rhome; three greatgreat grandchildren, Atlas Taylor, Eilidh Carr and Julien Rodriguez. The family of Mrs. Carr would like to give a special thanks to Villa Haven Health and Rehabilitation and to Solaris Hospice for their love and care they provided for Mrs. Carr. Memorials may be made to either organizations and may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
