Peggy June Holcomb, age 69, of Troy passed peacefully from this life during the mid-morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 27, with her family by her side. She was born in Pekin, Ill. on the 27th day of August 1953 to parents Milford and Sylvia (Welch) Foust. Peggy married her best friend and lifetime partner Butch Holcomb on Oct. 24, 1975. For almost 47 years these two did everything together which included holding hands before falling asleep every night. Together they raised three boys, two girls, and many grandkids. They took them hunting, fishing, and camping. She loved to teach all the grandkids how to bake.

Peggy worked at several jobs including babysitting and as a florist. She got her GED at the age of 34 to get her CNA license a year later. She rapidly moved up to an Executive Director and finding her calling as Marketing Director for the elderly. Peggy will be deeply missed by many friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Melford & Sylvia Foust; brothers, Jimmy & Johnny Foust; sister, Phyllis Dickerson; and four grandchildren, J.D. Holcomb, Katlyn Fowler, Myranda Bottom, and Raiden Garcia.

Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband “Butch” James Holcomb of Troy; children, Garry Fowler of Troy, Melissa Bottoms of Troy, Darrell (Bridgette) Holcomb of Temple, Sharron (Cary) Hildebrand of Kermit, and Ricky (Alisha) Holcomb of Eddy. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory four brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

The family would like to say a special thanks to True Heart Hospice for the care and friendship they provided to Peggy and her family. God Bless all the work you all do.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the Troy First Baptist Church, with Pastor Harlan Haines & Chaplain Ray Davis officiating. The burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Troy. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
