Van Edward Robbins danced the two-step home on July 19, 2019. Van was born in Breckenridge, Texas on Dec. 1, 1966 to Connie Meeks Robbins and Sonny Robbins. Van is survived by his mother, father and step-mother, Bonnie; sisters, Landa Stewart and husband Tim, Robyn Jackson and husband Jon; aunts, Kim Walker, Helen Hawkins, Phyllis Sarchett, and Lyndal Moreno; nephews, Mitchell Stewart and Joel Jackson; nieces, Elle and Joni Jackson, Carlee and Jenna Stewart; great-nephews, Chance and Rhody Stewart, and numerous cousins. Van was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Al and Helen Meeks; paternal grandparents, Everett and Lillian Robbins.

Van graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1985. He worked at Buddies Hardware while in high school. After graduating college from TSTC-Sweetwater, he worked for many years for EDCO. He taught heating and air conditioning at TSTC (Sweetwater), TSTC (Breckenridge) and VISTA College (Lubbock). This past year he taught woodworking at Breckenridge High School.

Van loved life to the fullest, dancing his way from Texas to Mexico with his friends. He enjoyed listening to country and rock-n-roll music while cruising in his red corvette. His laughter was contagious and he found joy in making others laugh. He dearly loved his dog, Bentley. However, no one was more important in his life than his mother. Their bond could be seen on a daily basis as they would take care of one another with the sweetest of love. They enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores, always laughing about the treasures they had found together.

Van’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. He enjoyed decorating with thousands of snowmen, spending time with his family and playing Chinese Christmas.

Van’s sanctuary was the kitchen where he could make a gourmet meal out of anything and would certainly be the best you ever had. Van always made sure Sunday lunches with the family were special. Van was also gifted as a master craftsman. Van treasured the friends he made at home. Once you became a friend of his, you became a friend for life. He would pay attention to the littlest details in someone’s life and make sure they were taken care of. This was most evident in the love he showed his family, his friends and especially his nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Van’s life was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 23 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Jack Morehart officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, July 22 at Morehart Mortuary.
