Virginia DeWitt passed from this world to enjoy her eternal home with Jesus on March 7, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel, with Jim Cox officiating. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

She was born Virginia Mae Singleton on November 3, 1941 in Moran, Texas to Harold and Winnie Singleton. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960. On April 7, 1961, she married Bob Drake in Breckenridge where they raised a family in the love of the Lord. Mr. Drake would precede her in death on July 15, 1999. She later married James DeWitt on November 14, 1998. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2015. Virginia was a lifelong member of Elliott Street Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Ladies Bible Class member, and devoted servant of Christ. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, most often at cattle sale barns in Breckenridge and Graham. She loved raising cattle, being outdoors, and traveling the backroads looking for antiques and interesting places. Her many titles included rancher, bookkeeper, office manager, housewife, and wonderful mother and Nana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold Singleton, Jr.; and husband, James DeWitt.

She is survived by her daughter, Dina Nichols of Breckenridge; her son, Jack Drake and wife, Kimberly of Cypress; four grandchildren, John Nichols of Breckenridge; Sterling Drake of Lubbock, Channing Drake of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Cambring Drake of Birmingham, Alabama; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who she loved very much.

Memorials may be made to Elliott Street church of Christ Ladies Class, Meals on Wheels, or the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
