Cowboys win Homecoming

Wed, 10/10/2018 - 12:00 am

Woodson News

How about those Cowboys. Congrats on a homecoming win that was over at the half. The next home game is Nov. 2 and then Nov. 9. Fifth Quarters will be held at the First Christian Church and the Church of Christ, respectively.

Did you eat brisket with the Seniors of 2019? Did you watch volleyball or the parade? Did you make the Exes Reception or the carnival? And finally, did you see the beautiful coronation?

The waltzing was exquisite. Thanks to all who took part in making this year’s Woodson Homecoming a success.

If you did make the Exes Meeting, you know that Alene Forest was selected as this year’s “Distinguished Alumni.” I can’t think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations.

Happy Belated Birthday, Linda Beale, who may or may not be 70. Happy Belated Birthday, Shelia Owens. Happy Belated Birthday to Coach Brady Hibbitts. Cary Mathiews. Gary Mathiews. Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday Allie Hibbitts. Happy Birthday Dillon O’Dell.

FFA and NHS Blood Drive happens Wednesday, Oct. 17. Drop-ins are welcome.

Come and save a life or three. They will shut down about 2:30 p.m., so be there before then.

Some FFA members are headed to state fair to show dairy goats and to give speeches. Good luck junior exhibitors.

Volleyball girls improve every time they step onto the court.

In our prayers this week: June Willingham, we love you. Johnny Vickers, I hope your laser eye surgery had good results. Greg Dunlap, come home to a speedy and full recovery. Kay, hang

in there; Teddy, you, too. Earlene. You have had enough falls. Rusty Caraway is battling cancer.

Terry Armstrong, please be strong and don’t let this defeat you.

We mourn with Bruce and Keron, for the loss of Bruce’s cousin, Gene Doud.

We celebrate with Kelcy Cruser, who is home with his wife and son for a couple of weeks.

Please continue to pray for Vicki Sadler, Annette Harper, June and Arliss, Lee Cannon, Alene Forrest (who did get good news from the doctors), Minerva Whitfield, Otis Hibbitts, Kay and Teddy Clark, Bruce and Keron Kinyon, Jeanie Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Pam Allen, Mae and Keith Boyd, Dee and Carolyn Tate, Arie Herring, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and LB Atkinson, Bill Thompson and Treon, Linda Dean, Modelle Ellis, David Baxley, Baby Jarett, “Aunt Lola,” and Charlene and Odell Kite.

Be thankful for the rain we have received and keep praying for more rain. Drown the army worms. Fill the tanks.

Information coming next week: Coronation, carnival, exes, parade, and football sweetheart and hero.

The next 4H meeting is Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. in Throckmorton at the Methodist Church.

Nov. 8, the meeting is back in Woodson. Sign up online or at the office.

Need breakfast, Woodson Grocery has you covered.
