District champs in cross country

Woodson News

I need to follow my own advice. It has been so busy. I haven’t sent a letter to anyone, or a

birthday card, or called anyone to check on the — well, maybe a few, but I should take time to

do more. Fall is beautiful the day it happens here in Texas. Don’t miss it. There will be a few

crisp nights, a few more warm days (the snakes will move those days, so watch out) and then

winter will begin. You can tell that by the shelves at the stores, which have skipped over

Halloween and Thanksgiving and have gone straight to Christmas. Don’t go straight to

Christmas. Find Fall in your lives. Don’t miss it. Breathe.

And, now, back to the news.

Big news in Cross Country: District Champions. The Woodson High School Women and Cross Country Team include Hanna Miller (Second High Individual), Elaina Harris (Seventh High Individual), Kylie Deaton (Eighth High Individual), Kacey Pate, Ansynn Franklin, Emmari Munoz and Danna Milller. Congratulations to the Cowgirl Team.

More big news. WHS Senior, Daniel Smith will head to regional on Oct.

22.

Speaking of “filling up,” the FFA and NHS Blood Drive was Wednesday, Oct. 17.

About 30 donors saved up to 90 lives.

Happy Belated Birthday to Rachelle Singleton.

FFA members Jordan Brown, Kacey Pate, Lizzie Lobstein and Junior FFA member, Claire Ellis, presented their prepared public speeches at the State Fair of Texas on Wednesday.

The Cowboys had an open on Oct. 19 and Oct.

26. They’ll be back, playing at “Woodson Cowboy Stadium” on the 2 nd of November. The Fifth Quarter will be at the FCC. That’s the white church in the middle of town.

The volleyball girls played their last pre-playoff game on Oct. 23 in Moran. On Thursday, Oct. 25 our JH Cowboys face off against Harrold in Woodson.

The 3rd through 5th PE classes have been honing their volleyball and football skills. Every week the

kids get excited about Workout Wednesday, when they focus on strengthening exercises and

cardio. Fun Run Fridays are a huge hit. The students complete against each other and against

their previous time, always trying to beat their record.

The 8th grade Health class have been going around the school and town doing a video project over Marriage.

The 4th, 7th, 8th and 10th graders attended the Living History Days at Fort Griffin last week.

Remaining in our prayers this week are June and Arliss Willingham, Johnny Vickers, Greg

Dunlap, Kay and Teddy, Earlene Bellah, Rusty Caraway, Terry Armstrong, Vicki Sadler,

Annette Harper, Lee Cannon, Alene Forrest, Minerva Whitfield, Otis Hibbitts, Bruce and Keron

Kinyon, Jeanie Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Pam Allen, Mae and Keith Boyd, Dee and Carolyn

Tate, Arie Herring, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and LB Atkinson, Bill

Thompson and Treon, Linda Dean, Modelle Ellis, David Baxley, Baby Jarett, “Aunt Lola,”

Charlene and Odell Kite, Felicia Gotschall, and continued prayers for Michelle Stone for the loss of her brother.

Please pray for Kelcey Cruser, as he ships out again. Pray for all military and our nation. At

home, please pray for our school, educators, students, and community.

Good job on those prayers to drown army worms and fill tanks.

The Woodson Grocery will feed you supper on Wednesday. And, breakfast every day.

The 4H meeting in Throckmorton went well. The officers that were elected are Claire Ellis as president; Cannon Redwine as vice president; Noah Leverton as first VP; Baylee Gray as second VP; Emmari Munoz as secretary; Logan Mitchell as treasurer; Kaden Brown as reporter; and

Joseph Erger as parliamentarian. On Nov. 8, the meeting is in Woodson.

I found Mayor Mathiews. He has been wandering but was not lost. Now, we just have to

wonder.
