Woodson News

At 7 p.m. on Feb. 11, there will be a meeting in the Woodson ISD Library for anyone who is interested in the Four Day School Week Pilot Program that Woodson ISD is considering for the fall of 2019. If you are interested, see you there.

Hogs are everywhere. If you need information about trapping, holler at Greg Brockman of Texas Boars Unlimited. He can point you in the right direction of hog traps and options.

To catch you up on stock show events:

Claire Ellis placed eighth in her Polled Hereford Fall Heifer class of 27 animals with her heifer, Uni, at Fort Worth.

Brody Mathiews placed fourth in his class with his Red Angus Heifer, Class 459, at Fort Worth.

Kylie Deaton earned a blue ribbon with her 16.5-foot metal gate in the Fort Worth Ag Mechanics competition.

Zoe Carruthers also earned blue with her planter at Fort Worth.

Moving on to the San Angelo show, Claire Ellis and Kylie Deaton took part in the public speaking contest. Kylie did well in the senior competition. Claire won fourth place in the Junior division.

Kiki and Landon Buse, and Danna, Hanna and Julianna Miller exhibited goats at San Angelo and did well. A couple of goats made the top 20 in each class.

Kylie Deaton and Claire Ellis were in San Angelo this past Sunday through Tuesday. Results next week.

We may have lost to Throckmorton but I hear the basketball games were good, and I know the company was great.

Let’s celebrate some February birthdays. Gay Hibbitts, Sarah Ellis, Paul Thurn (my dad), and Braedon Mendoza.

There will be NO 4H meeting in February, due to too many stock show conflicts and too many valentines activities. Enjoy. Next meeting is the second Thursday in March, when participation on teams will be discussed.

The portables at the school are nearly “married” together by Rosales Construction and looking very nice. The buildings will be used for administration and technology.

Kay and Teddy, we love you and hope healing is taking place.

Terry Armstrong, we are praying for your strength to continue your treatment.

Christy Lester, we hope you are back at school soon. The kids miss you.

Please pray for Alene Forest, Matt Bomhoff, Ryland Roberson, Pie Brown, Frankie and Minerva Whitfield, Dale Deaton, Sr., Janice Davenport, June and Arliss Willingham, Greg Dunlap, Otis and Delora Hibbitts, Bruce and Keron Kinyon, Jeanie and Johnny Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Lee Cannon, Vicki Sadler, Annette Harper, Dee and Carolyn Tate, Bill and Treon Thompson, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and LB Atkinson, Linda Dean, Dr. Thora Thurn, Modelle Ellis, and Charlene and Odell Kite, Kelly Pate, Pam Allen, Earlene Bellah, and Martha Brown.

Please send prayers for safety and for thanks to Kelcey Cruser, and all of our military.

Hang in there. It’s coming. The Second Annual Woodson Community Cinco De Mayo Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. through noon, on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

May 4, is also the day the junior class picked for prom.

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow. Winter is over?

Have a great week. Happy February.
