Lady Bucks JV Green and White volleyball prevail, varsity falters

The Lady Bucks volleyball team played the Lady Mustangs of Sweetwater Tuesday, Sept. 4. Under the leadership of head coach Leslie Anaya, the Lady Bucks JV White and Green teams went home, winning their series’ 2-0 each. The varsity team, however, lost their series 1-3.

The JV White team, with Coach Neeb, won both their games, 25-20 and 25-14. The JV Green, with Coach Walker, won their two games 25-6 and 25-9, quite decisively. The Lady Bucks Varsity won the first game 25-22 and then fought hard in the next two, losing 18-25 and 17-25 before they lost the last game 9-25 in a very physical match against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs.

In the stats for the Lady Bucks Varsity games: Kills were led by Kylee Willis (10), Anna Reaugh (5), who tied with Lilly Woodward (5), and McKinley Roberts (3). Woodward had just been moved up to the varsity from the JV Green team. Aces were made by Kinley Kanady (4) and Aaliyah Lawson (3).

Further stats include 76 set attempts by Roberts and 35 by Kanady. Set assists were led by Roberts with 16 and Kanady with 6. Digs were led by Madi Warren (Libero) with 15, Reaugh with 14, Woodward with 12, Kanady with 8 and Roberts with 7. The Lady Bucks Volleyball teams began district play against Jacksboro Friday, Sept. 7, at Jacksboro and then played Tolar in Breckenridge Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Lady Bucks Volleyball teams will continue district play at home Friday, Sept. 14 against Brock, at 4:30 p.m. for JV White and JV Green and then at 6 p.m. for the Lady Bucks Varsity games.
