Woodson News

For a long time, each time I walked into the Woodson Grocery for lunch, they were there. Always a smile on their faces and always glad to see me — always glad to see everyone who crossed their path. And, it was a busy path — school activities (even if they weren’t there to watch their own kids), community activities, church activities, fundraisers, fish Fridays, name it and if it was good, the Joe and Mary Walker have been there for us. I am heartbroken to learn of Joe’s passing last week. I will miss him — all of Woodson will. I am praying for Mary’s continued strength. I know I will see her soon, and I know she will smile, because that is who she is. Mary Walker, we love you.

Martha Brown. What were you thinking, breaking your leg for the new year? How can we help? You know we will all be praying for you. You are loved.

Let’s just get to the prayer list first. Let’s pray for our military, specifically Kelcey Cruiser, who is currently deployed. Let’s pray for our community, our school and our nation.

Earlene Bellah. You’d better watch it or I’ll put you back on the prayer list. Get well. Linda Northam, I haven’t seen you in a while. Get well or I will sit in your seat. Arliss lost his sister-in-law. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Special prayers for Kay and Teddy Clark. Kay had to make a trip to Hendricks last week. Terry Armstrong begins her chemo soon.

Please pray for Alene Forest, Pie Brown, Frankie and Minerva Whitfield, Dale Deaton, Sr., Janice Davenport, June and Arliss Willingham, Greg Dunlap, Otis and Delora Hibbitts, Bruce and Keron Kinyon, Jeanie and Johnny Stoker, Novella Gilbreath, Lee Cannon, Vicki Sadler, Annette Harper, Dee and Carolyn Tate, Bill and Treon Thompson, Jean Brockman, Alex and Marilyn Dickie, Barbara and LB Atkinson, Linda Dean, Dr. Thora Thurn, Modelle Ellis, and Charlene and Odell Kite, Kelly Pate, Pam Allen, and the families of those who have recently lost loved ones. School is back in session.

The new portables at the school are coming along and will be in use soon.

District basketball play began for the girls on Jan. 4, against Perrin/Whitt, then Newcastle and on Friday, Jan. 11 the boys will join in district play against Graford, here, at home, in Woodson.

Throckmorton County Stock Show is over. Majors are up. FW, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, Austin, watch out. Here come the exhibitors.
