By the time this is published it will have been three weeks since my arrival on Jan. 2. hat you need to now is where stand on some things. am a true patriot and elieve in our Constitution of the United States. George Washington said, “The power under the Constitution will always e in the people, and am in agreement with Thomas Jefferson when he said, “…instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed.”

elieve in the freedom of the press and am grateful for it. tae it serious enough to defend it to the est of my aility. n my early years heard a speech by John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. was a senior in high school and was convinced had to oin the military. t was the least could do to protect our freedoms. hirty years later still sense the obligation and a debt to continue to serve my country and my community for that freedom. s a memer of the newspaper elieve it is my duty to provide you with complete and unbiased reporting of the news in our community. will always strive for accuracy, ut as you now for your forgiveness ecause

will not always achieve it. t will never be my intention to mislead you and will always hold myself accountable and make any correction if any error of fact is called to my attention. The Breckenridge American will continue to do our best to keep you informed regarding the public affairs of our community because we believe that an informed public is our best guarantee of freedom. We will strive to base our reporting of the news on facts, giving both sides equal opportunity to speak and not to take sides. We leave that to the reader. Our opinions, if expressed, will be written as clearly as possible and will only occur on the opinion page.
