Wed, 12/23/2020 - 5:00 am

District 3-3A released their All-District teams last week, Friday, December 18, and the list was spattered with the Breckenridge Buckaroos.

The following is the list of the Breckenridge Buckaroos(3-3A) players, who were selected as All-District players for the 2020 football season:

Offense:

Jonas Arellano(SR), tight end, Jerry Lawson (SO), fullback, and Jonathan Trejo(SR), offensive tackle.

Defense:

Jonas Arellano(SR), outside linebacker, Robert Duncan(SR), defensive tackle, Jerry Lawson(-SO), defensive end, Alias Maya(SR), inside linebacker, and Anson Rodgers(SO), safety.

Honorable mention:

Zeke Castillo(SO), outside linebacker, Isaak Eutimio(JR), center, and Logan King(SR), defensive end.

“It was shocking to me, “Casey Pearce, Athletic Director and head football coach said. “To see so many of our players honored shows how hard we worked this season. It’s unique when we have two-way players (playing offense and defense) being selected. Jerry and Jonas played their tails off for us this season.”

The Buckaroos finished the 2020 football season with a 1-6 record, but we were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing the cancellation of two contests, against the Wall Hawks and versus the Jim Ned Indians, the eventual 3-3A state champions.

The Buckaroos will return four players selected to the All-District, 3-3A list:

Zeke Castillo, outside linebacker, Isaak Eutimio, center, Jerry Lawson, fullback, and Anson Rodgers, safety.

“With being honor come expectations,” Pearce said. “We expect the sophomore and juniors, who made the list to come back and be a part of the team’s success. The students coming back are the nucleus of the football team.”
