The Breckenridge Buckaroos made a statement 12-2 win at home against Dublin, making their district record 5-1 moving into week four.
The Bucks struck early in the game Friday, March 27 after a sacrifice fly which scored Hudson Woodward, who doubled on the first pitch of the game, setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon.
Woodward started on the mound for the Bucks. He gave a masterclass performance, with five innings, seven strikeouts, while allowing five hits and one earned run.
A Cam David single in the bottom of the second scored two runs. An error scored a third run in the bottom of the third, making the score 5-0.
After Woodward struck out in the top of third, his strike out count was then at five on the night.
Dublin broke the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning with a double. This was the only earned run of the afternoon. They scored on a fielding error in the same inning making it 5-2.
Buckaroo Preston Burns scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth extending their lead, 6-2.
Woodward gave up one hit in the top of the fifth, but the Bucks defense didn’t budge. Three ground balls hit the field resulting in three outs and the last time Dublin saw the plate.
Tucker Baugh led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, he scored on Dublin’s third error of the game. Another double from David scored a run and forced a pitching change.
Keeping the foot on the gas, the Bucks forced two walks and a single, invoking the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth.
The Bucks were on the road this week Tuesday, March 31 at Millsap and will return home Friday, April 2 against Millsap at 5 p.m.
