The Buckaroos opens their 2022 season in a big way last week with an 8-0 shutout victory at home over Haskell. Five pitchers combined for a no-hitter in the five-inning victory.

Flavio Davila started the game on the mound for the Buckaroos and threw two strikeouts to open the game. The second strikeout took only three pitches. Davila finished the top half of the inning forcing a ground out to first base.

Alexis Franco led off to beginning the bottom of the first inning and first official at-bat of the season for the Buckaroos. Franco was the first of back-to-back hitters to reach base without a hit. Following a five-pitch walk by Franco, Marco Jaramillo was hit by the third pitch of his at-bat. Following a ground out to the pitcher by Nathan Lechner, both Franco and Jaramillo scored on a passed ball to Davila.

Jaramillo relieved Davila on the pitcher’s mound for the second inning. He threw a line out to center field, two walks and two strikeouts while giving up no hits and no runs. Caiden Marin was the lone Buckaroos runner on base during the second inning. Marin led off the bottom of the second and was the second Buckaroos player hit by pitch in the game. Marin advanced to second on a passed ball to Ayden Reyes and advanced to third when Ayden grounded out to third base. Marin was left stranded on third after a pop-out by Ashton Reyes.

Chad Wilcox pitched the third inning for the Buckaroos. Wilcox opened the third inning with a strikeout out of a full count. Haskell was struck out in order without a base runner in the inning.
