Buckaroos prepare for district play

With half the season in the books, remaining for the Breckenridge Buckaroo season is district play. With the Bucks in the 3-3A district, the team will battle district teams for the remainder of the season.

Currently, all teams within the 3-3A district have played games against none district foes and are a combined 10-18 in non-district play.

Upcoming, the Buckaroos will travel to face the Clyde Bulldogs (1-4). The Bulldogs have beaten the Riesel Indians, 52-14 for the lone win on the season. The Bulldogs have a loss to the Cisco Loboes, 39-14, Idalou Wildcats, 49-14, Ballinger Bearcats, 21-14, and the Sweetwater Mustangs, 54- 10. The Bulldogs are averaging just over 20 points per game, while allowing over 35 points per game.

The Early Longhorns have a 3-2 record, after a 36-0 victory against the Grape Creek Eagles on Friday, September 25. The team also has scored victories against the Merkel Badgers, 31-20, and the Tolar Rattlers, 41-25. The Longhorns have two losses against the Bangs Dragons, 28-0, and the Comanche Indians, 35-7. Next, the Longhorns will host the Jim Ned Indians (3-1).

The Indians have a record of 3-1, after defeating the Halletsville Brahmas, 24-21 on Friday, October 2. The team has also beaten the Cisco Loboes, 38-20 and the Eastland Mavericks, 62-27. The team lone loss of the season came at the hands of the Ballinger Bearcats, 20-14. Next, the Indians will travel to Early to face the Longhorns.

The San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles have a 0-5 record. Losing to the Brady Bulldogs, 81- 8, Junction Eagles, 40-19, Grape Creek Eagles, 42-12, Reagan County Owls, 61- 0, and against the Stanton Buffaloes, 68-0. Next, the team will host the Wall Hawks.

The Wall Hawks have a 3-2 record. The Hawks have beaten the Mason Punchers, 42-7, Cisco Loboes, 35-14, and the Eastland Mavericks, 38-0. The team has lost contests to the Midland Christian Mustangs, 41-6, and the Cornerstone Christian Warriors, 24-6. Next, the Hawks will travel to San Angelo to play the Eagles.

With district play upcoming, the Buckaroos should feel optimistic about their chances.

The team is right in the thick of things and will look to defeat district foes, starting with an away game against the Clyde Bulldogs on Friday, October 9.
