Buckaroos sending five athletes to state meet

Five Breckenridge Buckaroo athletes are heading to the state track meet. Sean Cooksey, Adrian Ruiz, Chase Lehr, Daniel Valdez and Sawyer Wimberley will represent Breckenridge at the 2022 UIL Track and Field State Championships on Thursday, May 12, at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

At the state meet, Chase Lehr will participate in the 800-meter run, which begins at 5:20 p.m. Sean Cooksey will run in the 100-meter dash at 6:05 p.m. The 4x200 relay team will begin their race at 6:25 p.m., and Adrian Ruiz will finish out the day in the 200-meter dash, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

As a team, the Buckaroos finished second overall with 55 points during last weekend’s

3A Region 1 meet at Abilene Christian University. The Lady Bucks finished in 16th place, with 8 points.

“The Buckaroos had a great showing at the Regional Track Meet,” BHS track coach Mark Young said in an email. “Very proud and blessed to be the Buckaroo track coach.”
