Bucks begin season with scrimmages, watermelon

The Breckenridge Buckaroos were treated during the Watermelon Scrimmage last Saturday, Aug. 6.

Watermelon was donated by United Supermarkets and the All-Sports Booster Club.

JV started things off after teams and individual photos were taken, and varsity began soon after JV completed their scrimmage.

The Buckaroos will soon begin their 2022 season. Varsity and JV will travel to Fort Worth this Thursday, Aug. 11 for a scrimmage against Castleberry/ Gainesville. Kick-off for JV is 5 p.m., and varsity will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Bucks will host a scrimmage against Mineral Wells next Thursday, Aug. 18. JV will begin at 5 p.m., and varsity kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Non-district play for Varsity will begin Friday, Aug. 26 with a home game against the Jacksboro Tigers. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The following week, Friday, Sept. 2, the Bucks will travel to Childress to battle against the Bobcats. Gameplay begins at 7 p.m.

On Friday, Sept. 16, the team will make the short trip to Eastland. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Bucks will see the Benbrook Bobcats as their 2022 Homecoming opponent. Gametime is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23.

After a week off, the Bucks enter into district play Friday, Oct. 7 and travel to Iowa Park. All district games will kick off at 7 p.m.

The Bucks’ will have another game on the road when they see Vernon on Friday, Oct. 14.

Their first home district game will be held Friday, Oct. 21 against the Jim Ned Indians.

The Bucks’ last district game on the road will be against the Bowie Jackrabbits on Friday, Oct. 28.

The last district game of the season, and Senior Night, is set for Friday, Nov. 4 against the Clyde Bulldogs.
