Bucks blast City View Mustangs

The Breckenridge Buckaroos had an outstanding game against the City View Mustangs in Iowa Park and won (18- 0). The Bucks’ bats were steaming with three runs in the first inning, three in the second, five in the third, two in the foutth and five more in the 5fifh to win, (18-0).

Camden Escalon #12 was the winning pitcher for the Bucks with 10 strikeouts, only one hit in the first inning, but shut down the Mustang hitters for no runs in the rest of that inning and the rest of the game.

Jonas Arellano #3 had a terrific day to lead the Bucks with five RBIs and four for four at the plate that included a triple in the first inning, followed by three singles in each of the remaining innings. Ashton Reyes #4 also had a triple in the third inning. At the end of the first inning, the score was (3-0), with three more runs scored in the second, which led up to the big five runs in the third inning.

In the third inning, Flavio Davila #2, led the Bucks with a single on a hard grounder to left field. Ashton Reyes #4 followed with a triple to score Davila. Kayden Garcia #7 singled on a line drive to center field to score Reyes. Next, Christian Arellano #16 popped out to the right field, which allowed Reyes to tag up and head for home. The score was now (8-0). Evan Moore #4 also popped out to first for the second out of the inning. Garcia tagged up and went to 3rd. J. Arellano singled which allowed Garcia to score and it was now (9- 0). Ayden Reyes #13 tripled on a line drive to center field, which allowed Caydon Carr to score (courtesy runner) and J. Arellano followed him to home plate and another score for an (11- 0) score for the Bucks. Next, the Bucks’ pitcher, Escalon, hit a line drive toward 3rd and due to the third baseman’s error, he was safe at 2nd. Rodgers popped out to the second baseman for the third out of the inning with the score (11- 0).

Two more runs were added in the fourth inning when Ashton Reyes #4 singled on a grounder to center field. Next up was Kason Knight #20, who singled on a line drive to left field followed by another single by C. Arellano, who allowed Reyes to score for the Bucks and the score was now (12-0). Moore popped out to second and allowed the base runners to advance to second and third. J. Arellano had a hardhit grounder to third and Knight scored. The Bucks led (13-0). Next, Ayden Reyes #13 walked and then C. Arellano popped out to end the inning.

The Bucks pounded in five more runs in the fifth inning to help seal the coffin for the City View Mustangs.

In the top of the fifth, Escalon and Cayden Carr walked and Joaquin Hernandez #6 went in as a courtesy runner for the Bucks’ pitcher, Escalon. Austin Hill reached first on a dropped third strike and the error allowed Hernandez to score and make it (14-0) for the Bucks. The scene was set for Ashton Reyes #4 to make a double off a hardhit fly ball to left field, which allowed Carr and Hill to score to make it (16-0), with no outs. Next up was Knight, who hit a fly ball to left field and an error by the left fielder allowed Reyes to score. The Bucks led (17-0). Next up was Nathan Lechner #14, who grounded out to second. Knight tagged up and scrambled home for the first out of the inning and the last run scored by Knight to make it (18-0). Moore grounded out to first for the second out of the inning. The next two batters earned walks, Hernandez and Chad Wilcox #5. Robert Duncan barely made it into the game before he grounded out to third for the last out of the inning and the game. The final score was (18-0), which earned the Bucks a (6-3) standing in District 7-3A and a firm hold on second place. However, the Bucks still have to play the final game of the regular season against the Bowie Jackrabbits to determine the final playoff status for District 7.
