Bucks drop one to new district leader

Wed, 04/14/2021 - 5:00 am

It appeared that the game was up for grabs at the end of three innings of play between the Bucks and the Holliday Eagles, with the score all tied up at (5-5). However, at that point, the wheels must have fallen off for the Bucks and the Holliday Eagles garnered three more runs in the fourth, four more were added in the fifth and four more collected in the sixth when the 10-Run Rule was applied and the Brock Eagles won, (6-16).

The Bucks slipped from the top (5-1) of District 7-3A standings and are now tied at (5-2) with Bowie for second place. The Holiday Eagles have sole possession of first place in District 7, for the time being, but the Eagles could just as well be knocked off by Bowie, who is now tied with the Bucks with a matching (5-2) record.

Of course, the Bucks didn’t help themselves by committing eight errors in the ball game, which also added to their downfall.

Jonas Arellano pitched the first three innings and had 5 strikeouts with five hits for five runs over the first three innings of play. Chad Wilcox was the losing pitcher for the Bucks, with only 3 strikeouts and then 11 hits for 11 runs committed in the remaining three innings of play.

The Bucks tare back home on Friday, April 16 to play City View. The Bucks will host Jacksboro on Tuesday, April 20 and then play the last game of the regular season at Bowie on April 23, which may be changed, since it is the first day of the Regional Track Meet at Abilene Christian University. Any changes to the baseball schedule will depend on how many qualified out of the Area Track Meet being held on April 15, at Dublin who would then compete in the Regional Meet on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24.
