Bucks fall to Bearcats in pursuit of playoffs

Wed, 04/21/2021 - 5:00 am

Well, the Breckenridge Bucks never got out of the starting gate against the Henrietta Bearcats and dropped another District 7 much-needed game, (1-7).

The Bearcats jumped out to a (0-3) lead in the bottom of the first inning and the Bucks never generated any consistency at the plate against the almost flawless defensive Henrietta nine.

Flavio Davila #2 was the losing pitcher for the Bucks with five strikeouts over the six innings of play. He allowed seven hits for the seven runs.

Ayden Reyes #13 led the Bucks with two for two at the plate. Additionally, Evan Moore #8 and Kason Knight #20 each had a hit for a total of four hits for the team. The Bucks also committed four errors, which didn’t help their game efficiency either.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Bearcats committed their lone error which led to Aaron Rodgers charging home after tagging up at third on a fly ball hit to right field by Christian Arellano. Moore lined out to right field and the game was over.

The Bucks fell to (5-3) in District 7-3A and an overall record of (12-6). The loss dropped the team to third place in District play and they must square off with Bowie in the last game of the regular season Friday, April 23 to hopefully gain a slot in the upcoming playoffs.
