After the first game in the Bi-District shootout, the Bucks led winning the first game, (15-5). The Bucks led all the way with Camden Escalon as the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts and gave up 4 hits for 5 runs. The Early Longhorns challenged the Bucks in the fifth inning with 5 runs, but the Bucks prevailed, (15-5).
Jonas Arellano led the Bucks when he singled to drive in the first run for the Bucks. The Bucks collected one more run to take the lead, (2-1) The Bucks had a big third inning by adding three more runs and led, (5-1). Things were looking good for the Bucks with Flavio Davila on the mound, who went 5 innings with only one strikeout, but led the Bucks hitting with two hits.
Early added one more run in the top of the fifth inning and the score was (5-2).
The Early Longhorns collected three big runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score at, (5-5), with no answer by the Bucks in the bottom of the sixth.
The score remained tied at (5-5) for the next four innings. In the top of the 11th inning, the Early Longhorns managed to collect two more runs on errors made by the Bucks and the score was now, (7-5). Unfortunately, the Bucks had no answer in the bottom of the 11th inning and the Longhorns won the game, (7-5) and the Bi-District crown, with the second game victory of (3-13).
The Bucks went through three more pitchers after Flavio Davila, but Chad Wilcox ran out of pitches, as did Jonas Arellano. Evan Moore was the fourth pitcher for the Bucks, who struck out four, but not enough to warm the bats for the Bucks.
The Longhorns had also gone through four pitchers and ended with the one who had started that third day to take the win.
The Bucks left it all on the field, but feel like they have unfinished business next year with their young team. The Bucks will lose Jonas Arellano, Evan Moore and Robert Duncan to graduation, which leaves the Bucks with three veteran pitchers in Davila, Escalon and Wilcox.
Congrats to the 2021 Bucks baseball team for a great season, with more to come next year along with their seasoned players.
