It was head-to-head between two strong forces, the Breckenridge Buckaroos and the Peaster Greyhounds last Friday at home. But is was the dominating hot streak in the fourth quarter when Breckenridge lost grips against the Greyhounds with a 60-82 loss.

Peaster started off with good execution on offense and to breakaway with the lead, 4-10. While it did not settle well with the Buckaroos, the Buckaroos hit a 3-pointer, followed by a defensive rebound and a fast break down court for another 3-pointer and to steal the lead with a three, 13-12. It was a heavy exchange of each team answering back tit-for-tat. At the buzzer it was Peaster who made the statement for a three ending the first quarter 21-19.

It continued to be a defensive game with a tie and still 3:23 left in the first half. With no holds barred and several fast breaks from the baseline, Peaster was up by two ending the first half 35-37.

Breckenridge came out in familiar fashion with an all-out aggressive offense, but mistakes and fouls started to break down the Buckaroos. Peaster took advantage of the opportunity to slide away with a 37-43 lead. The Buckaroos changed course from an aggressive offense to an aggressive defense changing tides and ending the third with a slight lead over the Greyhounds, 50-49.

It was anyone’s game. Each team hit two 3-pointers exchanging who had the lead. Breckenridge fouled Peaster to give away the lead after two free throws, 56-57. It was still anyone’s game, that is, until Peaster hit a hot streak and Breckenridge fell into a slump.

With 6:43 still remaining in the game, Breckenridge could only put another four points on the board. It was all Peaster and there was no stopping them.

A dominant defense and an uncontrolled offense, Peaster scored another 25 points and the victory, 60-82.
