Bucks win in Hamlin Tourney

The Bucks participated in the Hamlin Baseball Tourney Thurs.-Sat., March 4-6 and the first game out of the gate was a Thursday, March 4 game against Colorado City, which the Bucks took (11-0).

The Bucks began with their hot bats and collected 5 runs in the first inning. and then collected one more each in the second and fourth innings respectively. The Bucks found their hot bats again in the top of the sixth inning and added four more runs to win the game, with only one error, (11-0).

The Bucks had 10 hits while Colorado City had one lone hit over six innings, but committed five errors.

Chad Wilcox, Jonas Arellano and Ashton Reyes all had two hits each and Arellano and Reyes both collected two RBIs apiece. Camden Escalon had two walks and the pitcher, Flavio Davila added one walk.

Davila was the winning pitcher for the Bucks with eight strikeouts over six innings of play.

The Bucks are set to play Cross Plains at 11 a.m. Saturday and then will play Eula at 1 p.m. and with another game against Winters at 7 p.m.

The Bucks shutout Winters in a (4-0) win. Chad Wilcox had 11 strikeouts from the mound over six innings of play. The Bucks collected one run in the third, one in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth take the win. Jonas Arellano, Evan Moore and Ashten Reyes each were credited with one RBI.

The Bucks could be in a tough division, with four teams ranked above them in the state rankings for 3A, which includes Nocona at #69, Bowie at #80, Henrietta at #94 and Jacksboro at #139, with the Bucks at #141. Of course, this will all adjust itself as teams begin their district games during the regular season.

The Bucks began District 7-3A play against Nocona on Tuesday, March 9, at Escalon Field in the Woodward Baseball Complex in Breckenridge.
