Ernie’s Invitational deemed success
The 3rd Annual Ernie’s Invitational Golf scramble was held Sunday at the Breckenridge Country Club.
In its third year, the tournament reached capacity of 108 players once again. The tournament has filled up each of the three years since it started.
Alex Contreas, who help found the tournament, said he wanted to do something special for his grandfather (Ernie Calsonin) , who the tournament is named after.
“We all play golf and I wanted to do something to honor my grandpa,” Contreas said. “A lot of tournament are memorial tournaments for people, but I wanted to do this while he was still alive.
“I think with the tournament being at capacity each year, it says a lot about the type of person my grandpa is and how well respected and known he is in this town,” Contreas said.
The tournament raised around $2,000 and the proceeds will benefit the Noah Project and Kid Connect organizations.
The results for the tournament are as follows.
