The Breckenridge High School Cross Country Buckaroo and Lady Bucks teams competed at the district meet Monday, Oct. 26 during some unusually cold conditions and some heartbreak.

According to UIL rules, the COVID virus made some adjustments to who qualifies for the regional meet. This year, only the top two teams will qualify to move forward and only the top 10 individuals in each division may qualify. Normally, it is the top three teams who qualify for regionals.

The BHS girl’s top finisher was Mia Arreola - 11th place in 12:53 for the two-mile course missing regionals by one place.

As a team, the Lady Bucks placed third. In other years, the girls qualified to move forward to regionals as a team.

The BHS boy’s top finisher was Evan Moore - 4th place in 17:50 on a three-mile course.

Both teams placed third as a team in their respective divisions.

Evan Moore is the only individual Buckaroo who qualified to move forward to compete at the regional meet due to his fourth-place finish in District 7-3A.
