The Breckenridge Lady Bucks Volleyball season ended with the final match against the Boyd Yellowjackets that are state-ranked fourth in 3A volleyball.

The Lady Bucks lost 12-25, 9-25 and 11-25. Unfortunately, the scores do not reflect how hard the girls worked and that there were many flashes of good solid volleyball play during the season but not enough to consistently mount a winning match. The final lose brought the season to an abrupt end with one win against Millsap in four games, with the scores 25-21, 26-24, 16-25 and 25-23. The season ended with a District 3A-7 record of 1-11 and an overall season record of 4-17.

The JV Green team lost 9-25 and 10-25 and the JV White lost 18-25 and 12-25 to the JV teams from Boyd.

Now, it is on to the Lady Bucks and basketball with Coach Chris Robertson, who gave the basketball girls a challenge for conditioning at the Lady Bucks Basketball Camp this summer. The challenge started at Basketball Camp and ended Monday, Oct. 15. The challenge included 10,000 Jumpshots, 3,000 Free Throws, 25 miles running and summer workouts, or participate in three Cross Country meets, signed off by Coach Kim Dieterich. All the challenges had to be signed by a witness.

Robertson said four girls completed the Conditioning Commitment challenge. At this time, Robertson is not prepared to announce the names of the four girls until his special prize for them arrives. Robertson said he has ordered shirts for the four winners. Robertson commended all the girls who attempted the rigorous challenge. More about that next week.

The Lady Bucks Basketball schedule was slated to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in Early. The next scrimmage is slated for 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Breckenridge and will include games against Hawley and Cisco.

The next four games are out of town and then the Baird Varsity Tournament Nov. 15-17. The Lady Bucks JV will play in the Eula JV Tournament Nov. 15-17.

The Lady Bucks Basketball team does not play at home again until 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the Breckenridge ISD Athletic and Fine Arts Center, when only the Lady Bucks Varsity will play Ranger. Then there are three more games away until the Lions Club Basketball Tournament Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 6-8.
