Lady Bucks attend Texas A&M team camp

The Breckenridge Lady Buckaroo basketball team attended the Texas A&M University team camp held Friday through Sunday in College Station.
This was the second straight year that the Lady Bucks have attended the camp.

Lady Buckaroo head coach John Chatham said he thought there was a lot of positives from the camp that will benefit the team in the 2016-2017 season.
“I thought it went pretty well,” Chatham said. “The biggest thing was to get the girls to compete against other teams that we don’t normally play during the year.”
“It was also a great team building experience,” he said. “There will be things that the girls learned from the camp that will benefit them as the season gets closer. A lot of good memories were also made at the camp as well.”

The Lady Bucks were 3-4 overall in the tournament in the Small Varsity 2 division.
Teams in the division included: Lutheran South, All-Saints, Orangefield, Moulton, Ayala, Lady Angels, Extreme 212, Fort Gibson and Breckenridge.
Breckenridge defeated Orangefield, 38-33 and fell to Ayala 25-21 in their second game.

The Lady Bucks rebounded to top Saints Episcopal 28-17 before falling in the next game 39-33 to China Spring.
Breckenridge lost a nail-bitter to Extreme 212 26-25 and then defeated Fort Gibson 24-22.

The Lady Bucks lost to China Spring again in the semi-finals 34-29.

“I am proud of what the girls accomplished while at A&M,” Chatham said. “I think we are getting used to one another and beginning to mesh like we should.”
“We have some big senior leaders in Kaylee (Roberts), Shelby (Lipps) and Kaitlyn (Ellis),” Chatham said. “It will be up to these three to continue to shape this team the way it should be and I am confident that they can get it done.”
